Chichen Itza, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico

old marketplace infrared photography – This is only a small section of the “Plaza of a Thousand Columns” market.  It was originally named the market because the early colonists felt the design was similar to a Spanish marketplace, but is also believed that the structure was used for civic and religious purposes.
