Along the Rio Arga

Buen Camino!!

After leaving Larrasoana, we approached the small Basque hamlet of Akerreta and, from the 15th century, the Iglesia de la Transfiguracion  (Church of the Tranfiguration of the Lord).

Following a brief look at the prickly purple thistle in the foreground of the kelly-green countryside, we were then sheltered between trees and shrubs, where the Camino trail took us along the banks of the Arga River.  In some places, we were able to touch the water.  A plus – there weren’t any hikers nearby at the time, so it was rather pleasant to cool down and listen only to the sounds of the river and a small waterfall.
