More from Glacier Bay – #5, Mount Fairweather

More often than not, poor weather and clouds typically obscure the summit of Mount Fairweather, located right above Glacier Bay in the Fairweather Range of the Saint Elias Mountains.  At 15,325 feet, it is one of the world’s highest coastal mountain peaks.

Like many peaks in the St. Elias Mountains – which, by the way, hold the world’s most-extensive ice fields outside the polar ice caps – Mount Fairweather has sharp vertical height due to its dramatic rise from Glacier Bay.  How lucky to have witnessed BOTH Margerie Glacier with this fantastic backdrop!!
