1) Sadly, their delicate legs do NOT grow back; be gentle!! 2) They’re arachnids, yes, but not spiders – more closely related to the scorpion! 3) Those are fangs in front, but daddy long legs are not poisonous to humans. 4) Their ancestral lineage dates back at least 400 million years ago. Putting this in perspective, this is 200 million years before dinosaurs appeared. 5) Antarctica is the only continent where they do NOT reside. 6) 10,000 species – the closest relatives to the arachnids being studied in South Carolina live in West Africa, which were all one species before the continents split!
